U.S. women win friendly exchange in Germany

MUELHEIM, Germany, May 2, 2009 The U.S. Womens Team handily bested its German counterparts in the team competition in the friendly exchange with Germany on May 2. The U.S. women racked up 232.400 points to Germanys 219.700. 2008 Olympic team silver-medalist Bridget Sloan of Pittsboro, Ind., won the all-around competition, with the USA taking the first five spots.
In the all-around, the USA took five of the top seven slots. In addition to Sloan, the USAs finishes were: Corrie Lothrop, Danvers, Mass./Hills Gymnastics, 56.500, second; Mackenzie Caquatto, Naperville, Ill./Naperville Gymnastics Club, 56.400, third; Olivia Courtney, Orlando, Fla./Orlando Metro, 55.950, fourth; Bridgette Caquatto, Naperville, Ill./Naperville Gymnastics Club, 55.800, fifth; and Mattie Larson, Los Angeles/All Olympic Gymnastics, 55.650, seventh. Germanys Kim Bui was its top finisher at 55.750 in sixth. The USAs Kytra Hunter of Frederick, Md./Hills Gymnastics, and Sabrina Vega of Carmel, N.Y./Dynamic Gymnastics, did not compete in the all-around.
The USA had the top team score for all four rotations: 59.750 for vault; 58.350 for uneven bars; 54.650 for balance beam; and 59.650 for floor exercise.
Sloan had the top scores on vault (15.350) and uneven bars (15.150). Vega had the top balance beam score at 14.300, with the highest floor score posted by Hunter at 15.150.
The U.S. women will compete in a friendly exchange with France on May 8 in Rouen, France
