Sabrina Vega was first introduced to gymnastics at the age of 6 while attending a friends birthday party at a local gym. She immediately feel in love with the sport and saw this was something she would enjoy and could do. Her first competition was as a Level 4 gymnast. After six months she moved to Dynamic Gymnastics. Sabrina met her current coaches, 1976 Olympic Silver Medalist Teodora Ungureanu-Cepoi from Romania (Bela Karolyi's former gymnast) & Sorin Cepoi former Romanian Olympian who have contributed to her very successful status as a Gymnast.
Where have you traveled to for Competitions?
I have traveled to so many different places. I have been to Canada, Germany, France, Brazil, Italy (2x), Australia, Mexico, and Tokyo. I have also been to many different states to compete.
What is your favorite event?
My Favorite event is Floor because I love to perform and that is the event where you can show your personality.
What is your favorite TV show?
My favorite T.V. shows are The Lying Game, America's Got Talent and The Voice.
What are a few of your most memorable moments?
This list of memorable moments just ges longer as the years go by. I have so many memorable moments from back in level 7 to now. In Level 7, I broke the New York State Record and as a Level 9 I won States, Regionals & Easterns. It was so exciting and some great accomplishments. Moving onto Elite...I remember when I was testing into the Hopes division at the American Challenge. It was my very first elite competition and I won the All Around. After this I was given an invitation to come to training camps at the Karolyi Ranch. The following year was when I made the Junior National Team for the first time. That same year I was given my 1st International Assignment to compete for Team USA. Bringing the Team Gold as well as our individual achievements was a great felling. It was all so amazing to share this experience with my new teammates. The journey so farhas been great and successful. I have made the National Team every year since 2008 and have recieved 8 international assignments.The Final and most Memorable moment was the entire experience of the 2011 World Championships!
What are your goals for gymnastics?
My Goal in gymnastics is to make it to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Do you have superstitions or good luck charms?
I have my Bible and it is not a good luck charm but more of my comforting tool. Whenever I get nervous I always pray and read my favorite verse... Phillipians 4:13.
